Winona Fire Department Members Complete Volunteer Two Training

Members of the Winona Fire Department have successfully completed Volunteer Two training through the Mississippi Fire Academy, further strengthening the department’s ability to serve and protect the community.

The training was led by department training officers Brandon Murphy and Gwain Jeffcoat, under the leadership of Fire Chief Barrett Johnson. Their instruction provided participants with valuable hands-on experience designed to prepare them for real-world emergency situations.

Additional support during the training was provided by firefighter Michael Johnson, who assisted throughout the course.

The program concluded with a final demonstration exercise in which firefighters were tasked with extinguishing a fully involved automobile fire. This challenging scenario required teamwork, quick response, and proper application of firefighting techniques. All participants successfully completed the exercise.

Those completing the Volunteer Two program include:
Dana Nix, Amanda Bullard, Marion Tyler, Felicia Tyler, Jeremy Black, Nathan Boshers, Vidal Anderson, and Lonnie Trotter.

Fire Chief Barrett Johnson expressed his pride in the group, stating, “I am extremely proud of these individuals for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to serving our community. Their successful completion of this training reflects the high standards and professionalism of our department.”

The Winona Fire Department commends these firefighters for their continued commitment to public safety and excellence in service.
